Dear (name),

I have received a notification that you will be developing (course) for our (program). As Coordinator of Online Education, I'll be working closely with you to ensure all your training needs are met and to facilitate the process of designing and developing your course. The following are the steps:

  1. First you will need to be set up with your Delhi email account, ID number (a 9 digit 800#), and PIN #. Your division secretary, (name) will facilitate this. Once complete, I'd like to use your @delhi.edu email address for further communications, and you will become a user in our Virtual Learning Environment - Moodle, also known as Vancko Hall.
  2. In the meantime, please review the Guidelines for New Course Development and Evaluation (https://confluence.delhi.edu/x/KQg)
  3.  I will add your development of the course to the Online Course Development Checklist and Log (https://confluence.delhi.edu/x/FIDDAQ)
  4. If you plan to include PowerPoint presentations, please read and follow this page on creating accessible and universally designed PPT: http://myweb.csuchico.edu/~dschmidt/accessibility/ which includes the following PPT file with instructions: http://myweb.csuchico.edu/~dschmidt/accessibility/powerpoints_for_all_learners.ppt
  5. Here is a checklist (https://confluence.delhi.edu/x/foDvCg) of recommended items to include while developing your course. Please check this list carefully when developing your course.
  6. There are 2 recommended orientations for you to complete and receive the Certificates of Completion:
    1. Vancko Hall Faculty Orientation - http://vanckohall.delhi.edu/course/view.php?id=2137 --- technical orientation to Moodle, Getting Help, Other Delhi systems, Library, etc.
    2. Teaching Online 101: Pedagogy and Excellent Practices: https://vanckohall.delhi.edu/course/view.php?id=5888

As soon as we have your 800#, PIN and email address set up, we can begin with the process of training and development with an initial consultation at your earliest convenience.

Thank you, and I look forward to work with you! This ticket has been set up for the development of this course, to track its evolution and development. Another version for those who have email accounts, etc:

According to the Online Checklist and Log (https://confluence.delhi.edu/x/FIDDAQ) - of courses either I've been told are being developed for online delivery, or which have been approved by Curriculum Committee for online delivery, you are scheduled to develop an online course.

The following are the next steps:

  1. (MOST IMPORTANT) Here is a checklist (https://confluence.delhi.edu/x/foDvCg) of recommended items to include while developing your course. This is the checklist I'll use when approving the course.
  2. Please also review the Guidelines for New Course Development and Evaluation (https://confluence.delhi.edu/x/KQg)
  3. We have a "template" which can give you a big head start (and which addresses many of the items in the basic checklist and which we can load into your course to help get you started.
  5. If you are interested in using the QualityMatters rubric (http://qualitymatters.org/Rubric.htm) for online course development (a deep and thorough rubric of international acclaim), please let me know and I can help arrange that.
  6. There are 2 recommended orientations for you to complete and receive the Certificates of Completion if you have not done so already:
    1. Vancko Hall Faculty Orientation - http://vanckohall.delhi.edu/course/view.php?id=2137 --- technical orientation to Moodle, Getting Help, Other Delhi systems, Library, etc.
    2. Teaching Online 101: Pedagogy and Excellent Practices: https://vanckohall.delhi.edu/course/view.php?id=5888
