To find a file you misplaced (on your computer)...

Windows 7

  • Click the 'Start' button on the bottom left of your desktop, then click 'Computer'

  • In the top right click the search bar labeled 'Search Computer'

 

  • Type in the name of the file (or parts of the name - '*' can be used if you don't know the entire file name)

  • Press enter and it will begin searching 

  • All matches will display in the bottom or on the right side of the window

  • If your file is there double-click on it to open it, If your file is not there try a different search

Windows 10

  • Right click the start button on the bottom left of your screen, then click 'File Explorer'
  • Then choose 'This PC' on the left

  • Click 'Search Computer' on the top right of the window

  • Type in the name of the file (or parts of the name - '*' can be used if you don't know the entire file name)

  • Press enter and it will begin searching 

  • All matches will display in the bottom or on the right side of the window

  • If your file is there double-click on it to open it, If your file is not there try a different search
