Jabber uses the local cache of contacts to identify callers, and when a number is re-issued to a new person, Jabber continues to display the name associated with the old person from the cache file.

In order to correct the issue, the cache file needs to be deleted. It is ls stored in a folder called "Jabber" which can be found in C:\Users\<User>\AppData\Local\Cisco\Unified Communications\

To remove the file:

  1. Exit Jabber
  2. Open Windows Explorer and navigate to C:\Users\<User>\AppData\Local\Cisco\Unified Communications\ (note, you may need to enable the option to view hidden items if you don't see the folder (see below)
  3. Delete the "Jabber" folder in the above location
  4. Restart Jabber.
  5. Test the contact name by placing a call to the ext that showed incorrectly

If you need to enable the option to view hidden items - click "View" and check the box for "Hidden Items"
