Part 1. Install Cisco Jabber
On your computer, go to the search bar and type “Software Center”, then click the app to open it
(Please note, if you do not have access to Software Center, you will need to call the Help Desk 607-746-4835 to install jabber and can not self install)
Select “Cisco Jabber” from the Applications menu (version may vary from image)
Once complete, you should now have a “Cisco Jabber” icon on your desktop – Double click the icon to open Jabber
Enter your username and password (this is the same that you use to sign on your computer) and click “Sign In”
Click “Accept” if you receive this Certificate message
Jabber should now load, and you may see the below popup - Click “Add to my locations if you do
Once you are in, you can also add your account for voicemail if you would like to access your voicemail using Jabber - Click the gear icon in the top right of the screen, and select Options
Then select "Accounts" from the menu on the left, and enter your username and password (same as your network account) and click "OK"
And now you can click the voicemail icon on the main screen to access your voicemail (Note, if you receive your voicemail via email you will not see any messages)
Part 2 - Getting around in Cisco Jabber
Cisco Jabber is intuitive and easy to navigate.
To make a call, enter the 4 digit extension, or enter 81+phone number to dial an outside line (the same as your on-campus phone), then press the green call button or press enter
To forward your calls, click the icon on the bottom left of the screen (look like a computer monitor), then choose "Forward calls to", then select the line you want to forward
And choose "New Number" to enter a new number, or choose a recent number you already used
And to unforward your calls, just click "Click to turn off" option where it shows your line is forwarded on the main screen
Adding a contact to your list
Click the gear icon in the top right, then "File", "New", and "Contact"
Enter the name or number of the on campus user and press Add
For Off Campus users click the gear icon in the top right, then "File", "New", and "Custom Contact"
